The Colorful Town on the Temo River

WELCOME TO BOSA

If there’s one stop you can’t miss during your holiday at Villa Puttu, it’s Bosa.
Bosa is just a 10-minute drive from Magomadas. It’s one of the most beautiful and colorful towns in Sardinia. It has won the “Borgo dei Borghi” award in Italy several times. You’ll understand why as soon as you see it.
LOCATION: Bosa is located along the Temo River, the only navigable river in Sardinia. The town is just a few kilometers from the sea.
Distance from Villa Puttu: about 15 km
Driving time: 10 minutes
WHAT TO SEE IN ONE DAY 1. Malaspina Castle
Malaspina Castle is the symbol of Bosa. It dates back to the 12th and 13th centuries.
It sits atop a hill. The view of the town, the river, and the sea is spectacular.
Inside, you can visit:
– The ancient prisons
– The Chapel of Our Lady of Regnos Altos
This chapel has medieval frescoes unique in Sardinia.
How to get to the castle:
– On foot, via a very beautiful staircase
– By shuttle
“The view from the castle is unforgettable. It’s worth every step.” 2. The Sa Costa neighborhood
Sa Costa is the oldest medieval neighborhood in Bosa. It is located at the foot of the castle.
What you’ll find:
– Narrow, steep alleys
– Stone stairs
– Pastel-colored houses
– Balconies full of flowers
– Sudden glimpses of the river
Explore without a destination. Let your instincts guide you.
3. The Riverfront and the Ponte Vecchio
A stroll along the Temo River is not to be missed.
The Ponte Vecchio connects the two banks of the river. It is made of stone. It dates back to the medieval period, but has been rebuilt several times. The colorful houses are reflected in the water. This atmosphere is unique in Sardinia. It almost seems Nordic.
Along the banks, you’ll see small fishing boats.
4. The historic center (Sas Conzas)
Sas Conzas is the neighborhood beyond the bridge. It was once dedicated to tanners.
Today, it is the heart of Bosa. You’ll find:
– Artisan workshops
– Restaurants
– Cafés
Stroll through the narrow streets. Stop for an ice cream or an aperitif.
Not to be missed: the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
5. Bosa Marina (the beach)
Bosa Marina is the city beach. It is located just a few minutes from the center.
Beach features:
– Fine sand
– Shallow, crystal-clear water
It is ideal for a refreshing break after visiting the center.
The seafront offers restaurants, bars, and shops.
